Better Birth Workshop

Vicki Chan and Lynne Staff are midwives, mothers, and passionate advocates for birthing women and their babies. They have spoken widely on matters of birth throughout Australia, Italy, the UK, and the US.This spirited workshop will assist midwives, doulas, childbirth educators and all who care about women, babies and birth to support women towards the best birth possible.

Participants can expect to… 

·         Develop and enhance skills for ‘connecting’ with the women they serve. 

·         Develop and enhance positive attitudes towards, and confidence in, facilitating normal birth. 

·         Identify issues within interpersonal relationships/ institutional policies and procedures/ and individual histories that can hamper or enhance the progress of labour. 

·         Develop a practical tool-kit for assisting and supporting birthing women experiencing the more challenging labour and birth. 

·         Explore our roles in circumstances where the “best birth” is a medically assisted birth, particularly how we can welcome the advances of scientific medicine, which enable us to enhance the safety of mother and child at birth, without being anaesthetized to the miracle of life.
